Do You Want conversions from your podcast?
As in…
Do you want all the hard work, energy, emotional investment, and time you’ve poured into your podcast to finally produce a solid ROI?
So you can keep doing what you’re doing…
get better at it…
and earn more income from it?
Then get the direct 1:1 help you need right now.
Hey there, I’m Jen Rogers, host of Substack Podcast Studio and founder of The Virtual Podcast School.
Now listen, I know it’s summer.
And going back to school isn’t exactly sexy advertising.
But let’s pretend you like summer school, okay?
And let’s also pretend you like making money in less time by positioning your podcast to convert before you keep cranking out unprofitable episode after unprofitable episode.
Then it’s time for you to enroll in summer school, sweet podcaster.
Right now, there are 2 spots left from my birthday bash celebration where you can book a 3-pack of private podcast coaching sessions with me.
This is the first (and only) time I’m offering this in 2026 with a birthday savings of $400.
But please, please, please…
Do not hire me if you’re looking for a quick fix.
Do not hire me if you’re looking for something cheap.
And definitely do not hire me if you want someone to pat your podcast on the head and say:
“Oh, just keep being consistent.”
Nope.
We’re not doing that.
Hire me because you know you need a fire lit, with insanely good strategy, underneath your podcasting belly.
Hire me because you want conversions on your show without doing what I did in 2020.
You know…
Launching.
Publishing 52 episodes.
Getting just over 1,000 downloads — 1,066 to be exact.
And making zero revenue.
Cute?
No.
Educational?
Painfully.
Profitable?
Absolutely not.
That’s why this offer exists.
This is for action-takers between now and June 21st at 1 PM Eastern.

I know. Original, right?
Let’s pretend it’s original.
Real quick: Two things about this 3-pack:
1 — It’s a no-brainer investment for serious podcasters.
If you’ve been guessing, circling, tweaking, overthinking, I see you.
If you’re wondering why your podcast isn’t converting, this is your shortcut to strategic clarity.
The very same kind of strategic clarity Podstackers got inside today’s live Studio session, a bonus session during my June birthday bash.
There is a lot of good stuff happening on Substack inside the Studio this month.
2 — You will not leave with vague encouragement.
You’ll leave with sharper positioning, better episode strategy, stronger calls to action that convert, and a clearer path for turning your podcast into a buyer-moving asset.
Encouragement is lovely.
But strategy pays better.
Now, speaking of making your podcast earn its keep…
Let’s talk about how to make your show more memorable, referable, and profitable.
If you’re new here, two things:
One, welcome.
Hello, hello! Lovely to have you here.
Two, take your capacity into consideration.
If you don’t have capacity to do all three things, pick the area you need to work on most:
Become memorable
Become referable
Become profitable
If you’re new here, you may want to jump to Become Profitable.
That’s a smart move.
Alright, let’s get into all the smart moves packed inside this issue of the Mic Drop Mastery Newsletter.
xoxoxo,

Become Memorable
To become memorable, you have to be crystal clear on what your episode is designed to do.
Today’s session inside the paid subscriber Studio was absolute fire.🔥🔥🔥
Give your episode one repeatable sentence.
Sometimes the best line in your episode is hiding in minute 14.
I know.
Rude.
But true.
We cannot bury our best stuff in minute 14 and then wonder why no one is repeating us.
Before you record your episode, plan for the sticky soundbite your audience will remember. You’re looking for one sentence (or one idea) that feels like it could stand on its own.
You’re looking for lines like:
“That’s not a discipline problem. That’s a rhythm problem.”
“You are not the villain in your own banking app.”
“A vague CTA creates vague results.”
“Your podcast should not be a weekly audio diary with a logo.”
“You don’t need more content. You need your content to have a job.”
Those are the lines we do not want to bury.
We want them to resonate.
We want them to travel.
Most podcasters make their episodes informational or inspirational.
That’s not all bad.
But informational and inspirational content alone does not convert as well as memorable content.
Memorable podcasts make ideas repeatable.
Know this: Your listener cannot share what she cannot remember.
And she cannot remember what is buried under 14 minutes of wandering.
🎬 Teeny Tiny Action: Before you create your next episode, ask yourself:
What is the one theme or sentence I want someone to remember after this episode?
Not the whole episode.
Not even the three great takeaways.
One sentence.
One idea.
Here are a few examples:
Your podcast episode didn’t fail. It just didn’t have one job.
Clarity should bring power, not panic.
If people can’t repeat what you do, they can’t refer you.
Money wisdom doesn’t start with shame.
Your listener does not need more information. She needs movement.
The whole idea is to stimulate your thinking before you ever create the episode.
Ask:
What is the thing my listener needs to hear, remember, and repeat?
That is where you direct your energy.
That is where the WIIFM Radio Dial matters.
WIIFM📻 = What’s In It For Me?
That is your listener’s favorite station.
She wants to know:
Why should I care?
Your job is to make the answer obvious.
Our next Studio Event is happening Monday, June 24th!

Become Referable
Stop treating Substack Notes like little promotional flyers.
Here’s what I’ve noticed on Substack:
Many podcasters treat Notes like little promotional flyers.
“New episode is up!”
“Here are three takeaways!”
“Listen here!”
Listen, I love a good announcement.
But announcements are rarely good invitations.
If you want people to click, listen, and share your episode, we need to stay tuned to the WIIFM Radio Dial.
Because your listener is not scrolling Notes thinking:
“Gee, I wonder who published a podcast episode today?”
Nope.
Your audience is thinking:
“Does this help me?”
“Does this name something I’m feeling?”
“Does this solve a problem I have right now?”
“Is this worth my time?”
So instead of posting:
“New episode is up. Listen here.”
Hear ye, hear ye…
Try opening with something your listener already recognizes.
Use phrases like:
You know when…
Have you ever…
Remember when you were a kid and…
Those openers pull people into the moment.
They help your audience see themselves before you ever ask them to listen.
Here’s an example:
You know when you open your banking app “just to check” and suddenly your whole nervous system is wigging out?
Yep.
That.
If your nervous system wigs out every time you look at your numbers, I’ve got a way for you to open that app without making yourself the villain.
I created an episode for the woman who wants to be wise with money, but keeps getting ambushed by shame, fear, or overwhelm before she can calm down enough to make a plan.
Because clarity should bring power — not panic.
Then you link to the episode.
Or, in Substackland, you quote from the article portion of the episode and share it as a Note.
Either way, I hope you can see the difference.
That Note is not a flyer.
It’s a mirror.
And mirrors are referable.
When someone reads that and thinks:
“Oh my gosh, that’s me.”
She is far more likely to click.
And when she thinks:
“Oh my gosh, that’s my friend.”
She is far more likely to share it.
🎬 Teeny Tiny Action: Go hunting for gold.
Take one buried-gold line from your latest episode and turn it into a WIIFM Note.📻
Use this format:
You know when ______?
Describe the thing that happens.
Then:
Yep. That.
Then:
If ______, this episode will help you ______ without ______.
Then share the episode.
Example:
You know when you open your banking app “just to check” and suddenly your whole nervous system is involved?
Yep. That.
If your nervous system wigs out every time you look at the numbers, this episode will help you open the app without making yourself the villain.
Listen here: [link]
Another format:
Have you ever ______?
That may not be a ______ problem.
It might be a ______ problem.
I unpacked it here: [link]
Another format:
Remember when you were a kid and ______?
That same feeling may be showing up now when you ______.
This episode is for you if ______.
Listen here: [link]
The whole idea is to make your Note easy for your audience to see themselves in it.
That recognition is a first yes.
And you are not chasing them for it.
You are creating something that helps them say:
“Oh yes. That’s me.”
When people recognize themselves in your language, they are more likely to click, listen, and share.
That is how your podcast becomes easier to refer.
Inside the Substack Podcast Studio, we’re all about referrals! Come on inside!
Before we jump into profits, I want to remind you:
You can become more profitable with your podcast through 1:1 coaching.
Book your 3-pack.
Use code:
And save $400 now through June 21st at 1 PM Eastern.
No matter when you’re listening to this, I want to remind you of something you are likely reminding your own audience:
You are worth investing in.
So no matter when you hear this episode, 1:1 coaching in the area where you need support right now is an investment in you.
It is you betting on you.
It is you believing in you.
And if you’re asking your audience to invest in themselves, you must be willing to do the same.
Now let’s get to the profitability section.
Become Profitable
You ever notice how sometimes we make things way harder than they need to be?
Okay.
This is going to sound super simple.
So simple, you may be overlooking it.
Here’s what came up on the live call:
Stop asking people to share your stuff with everyone.
“Share this with everyone you know!”
It sounds like a great idea.
But it is waaayyy too big.
If I hear that, I’m sitting here thinking:
“Everyone? Everyone I know?”
“What if it’s not right for them?”
“Do I need to text them?”
“Email them?”
“Go knock on their door?”
“This feels like a lot of work.”
When the ask feels like a lot of work, your listener does nothing.
So instead of asking people to share with everyone, ask them to share with one specific person.
Examples:
Send this to one friend who opens her banking app and immediately spirals.
Text this episode to one podcaster who keeps publishing but is not making money.
Share this with one woman who keeps restarting her health routine every Monday.
Send this episode to a friend who needs to know healing is possible, even when...
Text this to one business owner whose brand is brilliant but hard to explain.
See the difference?
That is specific.
That is doable.
That is profitable.
🎬 Teeny tiny action: Search your DMS. Who have you been chatting with you could ask to share an episode? Pick the episode that aligns with your convo in the DMS.
OR
Add something like this to your next episode or Note:
Before you go, I want you to think about one woman you love and know well. The one who is brave like you but struggling inside. If she came to mind while you were listening, text this episode to her right now.
Or something like this:
You are not the only one carrying this. And deep down, you already know one or two friends who need to hear it too. Don’t keep this to yourself. Text your friend the episode now.
That is a better share CTA.
It works way better than:
“Leave me a review.”
Now, I did a whole episode about calls to action and what CTAs to avoid.
If you want more on that, listen to episode #9 of the Substack Podcast Studio to reframe how to sell on your podcast.
You’ll hear Why “Rate and Review” is Killing Your Podcast Conversions (And The 3-Part Framework to Use Instead)
